FDIC Coverage

Your FDIC deposit insurance permanently increased from $100,000 to $250,000 per depositor!

As part of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act which was signed by the President on July 21, 2010, the standard maximum deposit insurance amount has been permanently increased to $250,000 per depositor. The previous limit was $100,000 and was temporarily increased by the FDIC under separate legislation to $250,000. The increase has now been made permanent. IRAs and certain other retirement accounts will remain separately insured to $250,000 as they have been for a number of years.

1st Mariner Bank is also participating in the FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee (TAG) Program. Under the program, through December 31, 2010, all non-interest bearing transaction accounts are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account. Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules. Included in the definition of non interest-bearing checking accounts are Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts (IOLTAs) and Negotiable Order of Withdrawal (NOW) Accounts that are in effect that pay interest of .25% or less and which continue to pay at or below.25% through December 31, 2010. All 1st Mariner NOW account products, except for the Premier checking, Health Savings, Classic Direct Deposit, and Client Escrow Interest
accounts, are fully guaranteed under the TAG Program. The aforementioned four NOW accounts are subject to the standard deposit insurance limit discussed above.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) is an independent agency of the United States government that protects against the loss of insured deposits if an FDIC insured bank or savings association fails. FDIC deposit insurance is backed by the full faith and credit of the United States government. Since the FDIC was established, no depositor has ever lost a single penny of FDIC insured funds.
