Short Message Service (SMS): Text Banking

1st Mariner offers you access to your account via your cell phone’s Short Message Service (SMS). With this text banking capability—available to anyone already enrolled in Online Banking—you can get your balances and review your transactions simply by sending a text to the number 20634. SMS banking is a quick and easy way to get your account information when you need it, 24/7.

To get started and set up your mobile device(s) for text, or SMS, banking, just log in to Online Banking and select the Mobile Banking link in the Options menu of Online Banking. Follow the instructions to activate your phone. It’s that easy. If you’re not already enrolled in Online Banking, register today—it’s free and convenient.

You’ll be able to text “SMS Keywords” to our short code, 20634, to get the account information you need. Each of these keywords will request an SMS text message response that includes the information you’ve requested.

  • Balance: Text BAL/BALANCE/BALANCES/B to request the balances of all checking and savings accounts.
  • Transaction History: Text STMT/TRAN/HIST nickname ["STMT (space) account_nickname"] to request the most recent posted transactions of the account with this nickname.
  • Branches/ATMs: Text BRANCH/ATM and add either an address or zip code after the Keyword to find the nearest 1st Mariner branch and/or MoneyPass® ATM.
  • Help: Text HELP/HLP to request a list of mobile keywords and support information.
  • Unsubscribe: Text STOP/END/QUIT/CANCEL/UNSUBSCRIBE to unsubscribe your mobile phone from receiving Alert messages.

Our short code is 20634 and it is the number you send text messages to, and the number from which you’ll receive text banking information. Text messages can be sent to and received from short codes in addition to traditional mobile phone numbers. To make it easier to recognize messages from the bank, you can add the short code to the contact list in your phone as "Bank," or whatever name you prefer. Some mobile phone providers do not support short codes.

1st Mariner Bank is very concerned with the safety and privacy of your information and is committed to protecting your information. To ensure the security of your account information, a number of security features have been built into the Mobile Banking solution. In the registration process you’ll receive a unique activation code required to verify your mobile phone number. This code associates your mobile phone number with your account. In addition to the security measure, this verification lets you know your mobile phone number was successfully entered into the system. Additionally, no Mobile Banking text messages return any personally identifiable information, such as your full account number, PIN, email or personal address. Your user ID and password will never be included or asked for in any of the text messages that you receive from or send to 1st Mariner.

If your mobile phone number changes, all you need to do to update Mobile Banking is log in to Online Banking, choose the Options Tab, click on the “Manage Devices” button in the Mobile Banking profile and update your phone number on the "My Devices" tab of the Mobile Banking option main menu.

The bank will never send full account numbers or other personal information via Mobile Banking. If your mobile phone is lost or stolen, no one can access your account without knowing your unique user name and password. In the unfortunate event your mobile phone is either lost or stolen, you may delete that mobile phone number from the Mobile Banking Profile (under the Options tab) in your Online Banking home page, or call Customer Service at 410-558-4200 to delete your mobile phone from the Mobile Banking system.
